6 ?’s

There are six essential questions that help raise awareness around activity taking place in an organisation or system of people.  Asking these questions skilfully and capturing clear answers will move you forward dramatically with whatever it is you are seeking to achieve.  A good coach will have a number of ways of asking these questions and will be a strong listener who can hear what is being said and also what needs to be explored further.  Although you can eventually become skilled at asking yourself these questions,  there will always be more value in having a trained coach to take you through them, listen to how you answer them and push you hard for insight in areas you avoid.  There are then three models I use to work with the information we gather from these questions.  The models are summarised in ‘The Theory’

The questions are:

      1.      Who am I? (an issue of identity)

2.      What do I want? (an issue of goals)

3.      How will I get it? (an issue of values and principles)

4.      How will I/we orient myself/ourselves?

5.      How will I/we manage conflict, make choices and resolve

         differences?

6.      How will I/we reach common ground and shared figures of reality?
